Billy Gilmour Biography?
Billy Clifford Gilmour was born on the 11th day of June 2001 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the first of two children born to his mother, Carrie Gilmour, and his father, Billy Gilmour Sr.
The Scottish national of white ethnicity with little-known roots was raised in the town of Ardrossan in North Ayrshire, Scotland, where he grew up alongside his younger brother Harvey Gilmour.
As Gilmour engaged his passion for football, he had his basic education at Stanley Primary School in Ardrossan and thereafter proceeded to Grange Academy in Kilmarnock for his secondary school education.
The latter academic institution was in fact, a Scottish Football Association’s (SFA) Performance School designed to ensure that the development of football prodigies went hand in hand with academics and improvement of social skills.
While at Rangers academy, Gilmour’s rise through the ranks was fueled by his desire to become the best at the team and club.
Although the then 15-16-year-old competed with men who were five years older and even trained with Rangers’ first team, he wasn’t still comfortable at the club.
An extremely sought-after Gilmour rather sought a higher purpose by dreaming of becoming the best in the world, and there came Chelsea supposedly screaming, “we have just the best environment lad, come on, and experience a turning point to fame”.
Chelsea secured the services of Gilmour in July 2017 for a reasonable fee and went on to test-run his fabulous technical abilities with the U-18 Premier League team.
Then Conor helped Chelsea youth reach the 2018–19 UEFA Youth League finals. A competition that saw his team lose to Arsenal’s Fabio Vieira FC Porto side. Helping Chelsea reach the final was an achievement, a feat which earned Billy a professional contract in July 2018.
Since then, fans have religiously followed Gilmour to see if the wonder-kid would either become a wonder flop or have his career buried with a series of loans before he eventually gets sold out.
However, Gilmour has elements of luck with him, particularly at the time manager Frank Lampard is bent on utilizing the Blues’ burgeoning academy talents.
Lampard’s resolve has so far seen Gilmour included in Chelsea’s pre-season match against Dublin in July 2019, as well as being listed as an unused substitute during the 2019 UEFA Super Cup finals against Liverpool.
Following Gilmour’s Premier League debut against Sheffield in August 2019, it suffices to note that he is indeed on a meteoric rise and would stop at nothing to become the very best. The rest, as they say, is history. Check Also: Kaoru Mitoma
