Anssumane Ansu Fati was born on the 31st day of October 2002 to his father, Boji Fati (a former driver), and mother, Lurdes Fati (a housekeeper) in Bissau, the Capital of Guinea-Bissau, West Africa.
Ansu came to the world as the second son and child out of 5 children born to his lovely parents, pictured below.
Four years before Ansu Fati was born, a civil war broke out in his home country. This was followed by a military coup in 2003, a year after he was born.
The coup left his country in ruins and also intensified widespread poverty. Ansu Fati’s parents feared for their children’s future, and this resulted in Bori, his dad, leaving Guinea-Bissau in search of greener pastures abroad.
Ansu Fati’s dad was a former footballer during his time in Guinea-Bissau.
Thou he had to retire early from his low-paying career in order to seek better opportunities in Portugal, where he also failed to make it, forcing a retirement.
It was hard for Bori to deal with retirement upon settling in Spain. He decided to advise his sons, including Ansu, to take up a career in professional football.Fati took a season with Herrera before finally getting himself accepted by Sevilla FC. Because he was that good, both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona academy scouts came chasing after his signature. In his words;
Due to transfer complications of losing their star kid, Sevilla left Ansu without playing football for a year. This didn’t create any delay to deter his dreams to become a pro.
In reaction, FC Barca Academy- Le Masia had to act to get the clubless kid. They took a nine-year-old, Ansu Fati, and gave him the needed foundation to kick-start his career.
Ansu Fati began making an impression with La Masia even before his teenage years. He moved up the ranks very quickly, becoming a captain in the process.
Just at the time, Ansu was about to prove his worth as a captain, the lowest moment in his youth career happened. He had a horrific double-leg break.
This unfortunate event happened in December 2015 when a tough tackle from an Espanyol defender left Ansu Fati with both a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg.
This forced him into a ten-month period on the sidelines and plenty of time in the hospital. Below is Braima playing the big brother role while staying by his little brother’s side during his time of recovery.
Most fans who know Ansu Fati would agree that his leg break injury was probably the turning point in his career.
While still in his recovery bed, Ansu Fati’s determination only grew, and he came back fit with a point to prove rather than crumbling.
He endured a meteoric rise to prominence in recent months to become one of the hottest properties of FC Barcelona’s academy.
Ansu Fati was just 16 years and 298 days old at the time he got his first senior minutes under his belt.
This debut earned him the award of becoming the youngest player to represent the club since 1941 after Vicenc Martinez (16 years and 280 days).
Ansu, pictured below, also won the record of becoming FC Barcelona’s youngest LaLiga goalscorer. Check Also: João Pedro Biography
