Presentation Ceremony...
Earlier in the day, the Khulna Tigers, despite some ups and downs posted a competitive total of 160 on the board with crucial contributions from Dasun Shanaka and Mohammad Nawaz who scored 40 and 55 respectively. Hasan Mahmud was incredible with his 3-fer. The Rangpur Riders, coming into the chase lost a couple of early wickets and they just couldn't generate a partnership. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals with only Mohammad Nabi and Shamim playing handy knocks and eventually, it was the Khulna Tigers who had the last laugh and won their third game on the trot.
The Khulna Tigers, on the other hand, started off with tight lines and lengths as Mohammad Wasim Jr. got an expensive wicket of Babar Azam followed by Mohammad Nawaz picking a couple in quick succession. They didn't let the partnerships build and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Dasun Shanaka who had an excellent outing with the bat, continued to contribute in the field as his bull's eye direct hit helped them to get rid of Azmat on a cheap score and also provided the huge scalp of Shakib Al Hasan. He ended with fabulous figures with a game-changing 4-fer. Mohammad Nawaz was economical with his figures and also chipped in with a wicket. Mohammad Wasim wrapped up by dismissing the dangerous Nabi.
Phew, this game was at a cliffhanger with Nabi smoking runs in a jiffy but it's the Khulna Tigers who have the last laugh as they win by 28 runs. The Rangpur Riders were rocked early on as they lost the in-form Babar Azam on a couple of runs and they just couldn't find a good start. Rony Talukdar played a sluggish hand of 15 but got out sooner. Brandon King too, did not trouble the scorers. But Shamim Hossain got a good start along with Mohammad Nabi and did retaliate well but the former played an unnecessary shot and just threw his wicket away. Azmat and Nurul too couldn't survive for long in the middle and sooner they were 5 down for just 75 with Nabi stranded and watching the collapse from the other end. The Riders just didn't recover from the jiffy of the wickets. Nabi was the lone warrior who kept the runs flowing quickly along with Mahedi who constructed the partnership of 36 runs in a blink. Mohammad Nabi kept fighting till the last wicket but couldn't help his team to cross the victory line and was the last man to fall on a well-oiled half-century.
