PENN Scholarships 2024
Brief Description
The college application process is a meaningful journey that encourages students to reflect on themselves, their community, and their interests. Your voice matters and we can’t wait to hear your story.
Undergraduate Scholarships
Penn college aid is solely need-based. The University does not award scholarships based on academic or sports merits. Penn is committed to meeting all of your demonstrated needs for eight academic semesters with grant-based aid.
To be eligible for federal aid, you must file a FAFSA, make satisfactory academic progress, not be delinquent on a federal loan, and not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). International students are generally not eligible to receive federal funds.
To be eligible to receive institutional funding, you must complete a CSS profile and the Penn Financial Aid Supplement (PFAS), as well as submit required federal income tax return information.
Graduate Scholarships
Each of Penn’s 12 graduate and professional schools administers its own financial aid program. Depending on your academic program, your award may include institutional grants, if available, as well as federal or private loans. Some programs also provide funding to work and study.
To be eligible for graduate aid, you must submit a FAFSA and complete any other application requirements.
Eligibility
Financial aid options for eligible international college students, including important tax information.
Financial aid resources for international undergraduate students are limited, and Penn practices need-based admissions for students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., Canada, or Mexico. International students who wish to apply for need-based institutional financial aid must do so at the same time they apply for admission to Penn. International students who are not admitted with financial aid in their first year are not eligible to apply for financial aid later in their undergraduate program.
Follow these to receive your financial eligibility at the same time as your admissions decision.
CSS Profile
Submit the CSS Profile online to the College Board. The 2024-2025 CSS Profile is available beginning October 1, 2023.
Penn’s CSS code is 2933.
If you have already completed the College Scholarship Service (CSS) profile, this application may appear to be missing from your financial aid checklist for a short period while it is processed. In early November, your CSS profile will be submitted to Student Financial Aid and your checklist will be updated.
Note: Financial aid information from both biological parents is required to determine a student’s financial aid award. If your parents are not married, divorced, or separated, you must follow the instructions below as your application will not be considered complete until you submit information about your parents.
- If your parents are not married but all live in the same household, you can complete the CSS profile and list them as Parent 1 and Parent 2.
- If your parents are divorced or separated, your noncustodial parent must submit the noncustodial profile online using the login ID and password that will be emailed to you when you complete the CSS profile. Your noncustodial parent is the parent with whom you live less than 50% of the time.
- If you are having challenges collecting your non-custodial parent’s application requirements, then you may submit a petition to have these requirements waived. Submitting a request does not guarantee that it will be approved and you may be asked for more information. Requests based solely on the non-custodial parent’s unwillingness to contribute or submit documents do not qualify for a waiver. If your request is denied, your noncustodial parent’s financial information will be a required component of your financial aid application each year you apply for need-based aid.
If you have any questions, please contact The Office of Admissions at info@admissions.upenn.edu.

Canadian Students: Send parents’ 2022 federal provincial income tax returns, including all pages, schedules and T-4 slips, to Student Financial Services. If either of your parents is self-employed or owns a business, you will need to provide all relevant tax information.
